A leader in the Somali community confirmed that Omar Farah is the latest young man to be recruited into Al-Shabaab – the Somalia-based cell of the militant Islamist group Al-Qaeda.
Farah, a student at the University of Minnesota, told his aunt he was going to Somalia to get married. But a few days later, the 21-year-old called back to tell her the real reason he left Minneapolis was to join the militant group.
Here we have another Somali “American” who has left the United States, returning to his homeland to become a terrorist. Our liberal federal government, through its own destructive immigration policies and sometimes in partnership with state or local liberal-run governments, brings these third world immigrants into our country and plants them right in the heart of America, often in the whitest possible areas (why wouldn’t we send black immigrants to Atlanta, Detroit, Memphis, Philadelphia, or any of the scores of majority-black cities or towns throughout the nation?). Even when given food, housing, schooling, and other benefits, these third-world “Americans” still become terrorists. What must these “Americans” be teaching their ”American” children inside their ”American” homes and mosques that sends their sons off to join the jihadists?
The leftists tell us that we should allow immigration from anywhere, and while we’re at it, sign them up for all available welfare benefits. The Left claims that these third-world immigrants will be good-old-regular-Westerners simply because we set them up in Minnesota, Massachusetts, or Lewiston, Maine (formerly almost 100 percent white – now about 85 percent white, over eight percent of which is Somali).
Americans provide many immigrants with food, shelter, education for their kids, job training programs, and many more benefits through the welfare state. Americans give immigrants all that and the right to live in a land that still holds many opportunities for those that will seek them. If that is insufficient to inspire these immigrants and their offspring to be grateful and productive American citizens, what will?
The true traveller of the Left might answer, “Well, well, uh, well, we simply are not trying hard enough! It is clear that we need to do more to erase the civilizational divide that separates these Muslim-”Americans” from the mainstream! Where, oh, where have we failed the noble immigrant? What can we do in the name of égalitaire to elevate the Other?” (Here, a truly devoted leftist would wring his hands and sob lowly – tossing in the occasional low-volume wail to punctuate the emotion.)
A young Christian lad wanting to run away on some exotic adventure might get a job on an oil freighter, or maybe join a travelling carnival. For an extreme adventure, he might run off to Detroit and work the night shift at a convenience store (this is where health care with a burial clause could prove quite handy). How often have you heard of young Christian men (or any non-Muslim Westerners) stealing away across the open sea to join a terrorist group so they can kill “enemies?”
After all that is given them by foolish Western governments, Muslim immigrants in Western nations still produce radical offspring who leave their “homes” to run off and fight the terrorist’s holy war of jihad. The true leftist would wring his hands here and plead, “What can we do to stop this madness?” Past experience tells us that it won’t be long before the Left, sticking to form and blaming the host countries, cries out in unison “We are losing “our” young men to jihad and it is clearly because Muslims in the West are underserved.” The leftists will scold, ”Not only are the Muslims in the West underserved, they are underrepresented, as well! To make everything equal, we’ll need to give them more welfare benefits and build more mosques (mosques built with taxpayer assistance, of course). When that’s done, we’re going to want to fill the new mosques with more Muslims. You know what that means; we’ll need to immigrate even more Muslims. Unfortunately, our plan will likely require a bit of a bump up in tax rates to cover these welfare expenditures, don’t you know! Rest assured, that’ll fix everything, but even when it doesn’t, at least you’ll already feel better about yourselves, non?”
The Left, by this time in full group-hug mode, will chortle, “Now, gather around my fellow Western lambs citizens. Let’s all join hands and teach the world a little harmony. Then we can all watch episodes of Glee and Modern Family, drink smoothies, giggle and live happily ever after. Amen.“
