From the 2012 Democrat National Convention:
Recently the Democrats removed a reference to God from their official party platform. They also removed language affirming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Uh, oh! Somebody forgot to run this by Bill Clinton. Slick Willy surely would have told them that these are not politically wise things to say out loud. Always leave ‘em smilin’, Bill would likely say; tell ‘em what they want to hear, not what you really believe!
Not to worry, though. In the link below is a video that shows the Democrats as they tried to backtrack and pull the wool over Americans’ eyes (ever again) by claiming that they didn’t really mean to do any of that silly stuff that they did. The speaker, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called for three different voice votes on whether to put the removed language back into the platform without debate. Each vote sounded evenly divided between the yays and nays (much of the crowd clearly wanted to debate the issue). The mayor looked around hoping, praying(?) that someone would take this political hot potato out of his hands. When no one did, he finally decided to declare that two-thirds of those present were saying yay! It did not sound as though the crowd was at all happy with this decision (one couple holding a sign that read Arab American Democrat looked especially unhappy with this turn of events).
Ain’t that America, 2012!
