While being interviewed at the London Olympics, Jamaican gold medalist Usain Bolt stopped the interviewer in mid question when he heard the American national anthem playing in the background. In the arena at that time the gold medal for the 400-meter dash was being awarded to American Sanya Richards-Ross. Upon hearing the Star Spangled Banner, Mr. Bolt indicated to the interviewer that he’d like to show his respect. The interviewer then joined Mr. Bolt as they faced the flag in silence while the anthem played.
An honorable thing to do, sir. We thank you for the respectful gesture and salute you in return.
