If a Christian Leader Won’t Defend Christianity, is He Truly a Christian, or a Leader?

The answer to both questions is no.

How can one be a Christian and not defend Christianity. How can a leader claim to be a Christian, yet not defend his religion from the relentless lies and mischaracterizations by non-Christians about the history of Christian Western Civilization.

Not too far in the future, America, unless she changes course, will elect as president a person who will claim he is a Christian,  yet will refuse to publicly say things such as God bless America. That president will say that he is the leader of all Americans and he will claim that for him to say such things excludes all non-Christian citizens from proper representation by their president. That future president’s handlers will tell him that the non-existent (by the Left’s definition) claim of separation of Church and state prevents him from airing his private religious views in public settings or official statements.

President Barack Obama says he is a Christian, and while his words and actions make a great many Christians doubt his authenticity, he still publicly mouths some of the phrases of Christianity. The time is not far away when America will get a president that will not even do that much. Mr. Obama’s flaws as leader are many, his policies radical, and his term in office has quite probably exposed him as the worst leader the West has ever known (Bill Clinton is a very close second). President Obama’s story is one best written another time because this article is not about him. It is about a former Western leader whose history gives us a glimpse of what a future American president will look like. If America, like Britain and Europe, continues becoming less Christian, this future American president will, in public, completely deny the Lord; and he will deny Him in your name. America should view former UK Prime Minister Anthony Charles Lynton ‘Tony” Blair as an example of what a future ”Christian” American president may look like.

Here is a preview of that future American president from the Telegraph:

Mr Blair said he had intended to echo the traditional closing remark of   Presidents in the United States, who typically sign-off television broadcasts   by saying, “God Bless America”.

——————

However, his former spin doctor Alastair Campbell famously declared “we don’t   do God”, when the then Prime Minister was asked about his beliefs.

Speaking at a conference on leadership, organised by the Holy Trinity Brompton   Church, in London, Mr Blair said it was “a shame” that British   politicians could not express their faith more openly.

The shame is that this politician did not express his faith more openly. What kind of Christian man comes to this conclusion after he leaves office? Think of the beautiful turmoil Prime Minister Tony Blair could have created if he had stood his ground and proclaimed his love for the Lord in every speech he gave. While they might have chased him out of England,  he might also have given strength to other Christians around the world to stand up for their faith. America and all Western nations need more leaders who will stand by the Lord; no matter what faux Christians and non-Christians say.

——————

“This caused consternation in the whole system. A committee was convened,   and we had to discuss it.

A committee was convened? This behavior by Western leaders is amazing; simply amazing. No matter how many times we see them act like caricatures of themselves, it is still mind numbing.

——————

Mr Blair has said in the past that he did not speak publicly about his belief   while Prime Minister out of fear voters would think him a “nutter”.

This is his very worst excuse. It is understood by all objective persons, Christian and non-Christian alike, that some non-Christians will speak any number of lies about Christians. Indeed, the Bible makes this point very clear. One of the biggest lies spoken is that Christians are crazy or delusional. Another lie tossed about with pleasure is that Christians are ignorant.  How can a true Christian worry about being called a “nutter.”

——————

During his remarks yesterday, Mr Blair defended the role of religion in public   and private life, warning that a world without faith would be on a path to   “tragedy and disaster”.

He said he believed that the sense of something “bigger and more important”   than you was “deeply important” for the health of society.

Asked about how he dealt with the “hurt” of criticism, Mr Blair said: “However   much you say it doesn’t get to you, it kind of does in a way.”

These are astounding statements by Mr. Blair. Every time he makes similar statements he should apologize repeatedly for all that he did not do. The Western world is becoming a civilization without God and the West’s so-called Christian leaders will not fight against this trend by defending their own faith! In every speech Tony Blair gives for the rest of his life, he should apologize for turning his back on the Lord and failing to defend England’s Christian heritage. It would have been an uphill battle against tremendous odds, but he was one of the most prominent leaders in the world. It can rightly be said that George Bush was wrong about so much and a disaster as president, but one thing can’t be said; it would be incorrect to say that Mr. Bush denied his faith in the Lord. Tony Blair was ashamed of God and all Christians should be ashamed of Tony Blair’s refusal, when the world was his stage, to acknowledge the Lord.

While England may no longer truly be a Christian nation (America is following in her footsteps), how could any Christian leader of the historically Christian nation of England not praise and defend Christianity. It is outrageous and it is spineless. Tony Blair is not the only so-called Christian leader who has failed to defend his religion but he is one of the highest profile leaders to do so. Queen Elizabeth II has also failed to defend her Christian heritage (and continues to do so). This writer had a very naive view of the Queen, seeing her only as a figurehead, good for parades and pageantry. That was a biased view because it was not applied to Prince Charles, and he not even King, yet. The laughable Prince was held to a much higher standard and judged as a failure because of his refusal to defend Christian England from the constant attacks by the Left. The lesson learned here and this writer humbled on that score; all western kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers shall hereafter be judged equally, regardless of whether they are of the fairer sex or not. Either they are defenders of the Christian heritage of Western Civilization and as such are good leaders; or they do not defend it and turn their backs on the Lord (and us) in exchange for a bit of favor from the Left. We must let the elected leaders know that we never again will vote for them if they fail to defend the Christian heritage of Western Civilization.

We will pray for all the leaders of the West but we should never stop demanding that they stand up for our Lord Jesus Christ, and stand up for us.

That’s very true. No other religion has members who won’t defend it. No Islam follower would hesitate to defend his crazy religion for a second but we get all weak and don’t want to offend anybody.
