Selling the Dream: Act I

A Torn Flag for a Broken Nation

Updated: 6/15/2012

President Obama, in a brief statement today announced that his administration will not deport illegal aliens under 30-years-old who claim that they illegally entered America before their 16th birthday. Effective immediately, the Obama administration will instead grant work permits to those under the age of 30 who reside in our country illegally. To qualify for this amnesty, applicants must have a high school diploma (it is reasonable to assume that the administration will give them more than ample time to obtain a GED). Those applying for the permits must also have no criminal record and must have been in the country continuously for five years.

This action, claims the president, will result in “lifting the shadow of deportation” from those residing in our country in defiance of our laws. President Obama’s plan unconstitutionally (surely it is unconstitutional) bypasses Congress and grants immunity from deportation to these illegal aliens.

The statement by the president was brief, but, also combative - a reporter repeatedly interrupted the president with questions concerning (legal) American citizens and how their ability to find employment would suffer due to this new policy. The president was not gracious at all in his handling of the reporter. Indeed, considering the circumstances, he acted somewhat dictatorial in his admonishment of the reporter.

Mr. Obama took no more questions after his announcement of this amnesty by decree.

Updated: 6/15/2012

The reporter who questioned the president today during his Rose Garden press conference was The Daily Caller’s White House correspondent Neil Munro. Here is an interview with Mr. Munro explaining what happened.

End update.

Mr. Obama has received complaints from illegal aliens and their supporters demanding his support for the Dream Act.  These same people are also unhappy with the Obama administration’s (exaggerated) deportation efforts. This latest tactic by the president is an effort to address those complaints.

More importantly, this move by Mr. Obama is an effort to energize interest and increase voter turnout within what we may refer to as the friends of the alien community ( alien community: those future constituents of the Left who are here illegally, but demanding amnesty and open/relaxed border policy). The president and the Democrats hope this unconstitutional action will motivate those friends (Hispanic/Latino voters) to show up in higher numbers on election day. The alien community  and their friends strongly support the Democrats due to, among other things, the party’s affinity for supporting what many see as treasonous immigration policies. The Democrats and President Obama already know that they have the support of the legal Hispanic/Latino  citizens who in turn support the alien community. This move aims at giving those voters (including ineligible voters?) one more reason to get out and vote for their side; the side of the traitorous Democrats.

The president is, quite obviously buying votes. As currency he is using the most valuable commodity in the world: American citizenship. This administration  has taken down what was left of the mask and is now showing its willingness to sell America (literally) in an effort to pump up Hispanic/Latino voters (it is likely that any Democrat administration would follow this same course).

What we have here is simple: President Obama has evolved, again.  Just think how much he’ll evolve in a second term.

Your Move, Mr. Romney.

Mitt Romney, a known hispanderer and immigrationist ( immigrationist: one who believes America is a nation of immigrants created for all people of the world to migrate to and congregate in), has now been outplayed in the quest for the treason lobby vote. Two facts: First, Mr. Romney has no chance of significantly increasing his percentage of the Hispanic/Latino vote. Second, as far as presidential elections are concerned, Hispanic/Latino voters, relative to white voters, are still a very small percentage of the overall voter base. However, Mitt Romney and the Republican élite are not aware of these facts, therefore we may see a counter to Mr. Obama’s action coming from the Romney camp some time soon (will Mr. Romney criticize the plan or offer his own version?). It will be interesting to see if Congress tries to block this move by the president.

Updated 6/15/2012: Mitt Romney agrees (in principle) with President Obama.

From CNN:

“I believe the status of young people who come here through no fault of their own is an important matter to be considered, and should be solved on a long term basis so they know what their future would be in this country,” Romney said after a campaign stop in Milford, New Hampshire

“I think the action that the president took today makes it more difficult to reach that long term solution because an executive order is, of course, a short term matter and can be reversed by subsequent presidents,” Romney said.

“I would like to seek legislation that deals with this issue and I happen [to] agree with Marco Rubio as he looked at, considered this issue, he said that this is an important matter that we have to find a long te[r]m solution,” Romney said.

In an article at VDare.com, James Fulford argues (correctly) that this was Mr. Romney’s opportunity to surge ahead of President Obama and dramatically increase his chances of winning the November election. The Republican candidate, once again, looks like a goosey amateur scared that if he says anything wrong the Left will call him names, not like him on Facebook, and never invite him to their parties. Imagine Bill Clinton being served up a softball like this. Even if he agreed with Mr. Obama (he does), Clinton would have turned it into gold.

End update.

This from the Associated Press (written shortly before the president’s announcement):

One of the officials said the latest policy change is just another step in the administration’s evolving approach to immigration.

          ————————————————————————————————

The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.

Don’t forget the Republicans’ token Hispanic/Latino, and future ineligible occupier of the Whitehouse, the “Great Hispanic Hope”, Senator Marco Rubio.

More from the Associated Press story:

Rubio did not criticize the administration’s initiative Friday but said it would make it harder to achieve a permanent solution.

“Today’s announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short-term answer to a long-term problem,” Rubio said in a statement. “And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.”

Mr. Rubio has no problem with President Obama’s action on immigration. He, like most Republicans, would simply prefer that his team get the credit.

This is only Act I of ”Selling the Dream”. Act II will be full amnesty (either defacto amnesty by presidential decree or directly through Congressional legislation) for every illegal alien living in America at the time of the decree/legislation. Act III will be the decriminalization of illegal alien laws and full rights to all current (at the time) and future illegal aliens. Act IV will be the legalizing of all border crossings while only requiring a symbolic border check upon entry to the United States (similar to a toll booth system). Act V will be the acceleration and completion of the current balkanization that is taking place in America, and the accompanying civil strife as each group squabbles over their piece of America. Act VI will be the sound of a large number of white citizens leaving America and emigrating to England and Europe. Act VII is the finale where America is a third world country requiring aid from England and Europe to support her (separately) huddled masses.

It is, of course, up to us whether this play runs through to its finale or whether it gets cancelled between acts. However, if this tragic play is allowed to proceed to its inevitable conclusion it will mean that the efforts of our ancestors were in vain and King George wins after all.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Peter King says he will be launching an immediate review  of the presidents new amnesty plan.

From The Daily Caller:

“The Administration is overstepping its authority by weakening immigration laws  without Congressional approval,” King said in an email. “I am very  concerned about efforts to administratively implement amnesty for countless  illegal aliens under the age of 30. It is vital that US borders are secure prior  to any consideration of amnesty proposals.”

Here is a video from Examiner.com. In this video, recorded on September 28th, 2011, President Obama says that he can’t do what he did today.
